Vodacom has announced plans to inject billions to boost its South African network in the current financial year. During the release of the group's financial results for the six months ended September, chief executive Shameel Joosub said the capex injection was on top of the R47 bn the company had spent over the past five years in the domestic market.

Vodafone Group has agreed to transfer its 55% shareholding in Vodafone Egypt to Vodacom, its sub-Saharan African subsidiary. This transfer simplifies the management of Vodafone’s African holdings and further strengthens the delivery of connectivity and financial services in Africa.

Egyptian Minister of communications and information technology, Amr Talaat, oversaw the renewal of the IoT partnership between Telecom Egypt and Nokia, to deploy the country’s first IoT infrastructure through Nokia’s global network WING (Worldwide IoT Network Grid).
