Ubuntu Towers Uganda announced the successful completion of its rebranding to TowerCo of Africa Uganda, which is 90% owned by TowerCo of Africa (TOA), a fully-owned subsidiary of AXIAN Telecom. Under a new identity, the company forges ahead with its journey towards redefining connectivity in Uganda.

"Share with caution" is the message of a new German advertisement that raises awareness about the dangers of sharing images of children on social media. "More than 75% of parents share data about their children on social networks," and "80% of them have followers they have never met," are some of the statistics presented in the video that alerts parents to the risks of sharing photos of children on the Internet.

AXIAN Telecom has recently entered into an agreement to acquire an additional 40% equity interest in its joint venture business, "Free in Senegal." Upon completion of this transaction, AXIAN Telecom will hold an 80% equity interest in Free in Senegal, granting it full control and enabling financial consolidation of the operations.

Ooredoo Group, Zain Group and UAE-based TASC Towers Holding have entered into a negotiation that will see them combine their approximately 30,000 telecommunication tower assets in Qatar, Kuwait, Algeria, Tunisia, Iraq and Jordan into a jointly owned independent tower company in a cash and share deal. This new partnership will form the largest tower company in the MENA region.

Security researchers have made a significant discovery regarding the widely used TErrestrial Trunked RAdio (TETRA) standard in radios worldwide. Egypt is making strides in promoting satellite technology in Africa with its plans to launch the NExSat-1 satellite from China by the end of this year. Sherif Sedky, CEO of the Egyptian Space Agency (EgSA), confirmed that the satellite has successfully completed all tests in Germany and will be launched from China in November or December 2023.
