Vodafone Plc's South African subsidiary, Vodacom, has acquired 55% of Vodafone Egypt from its parent company. The company reportedly acquired Vodafone’s 132 million shares in Vodafone Egypt in a block trade transaction on the EGX for $2.4 billion.

Orange Botswana is the first Orange affiliate to launch 5G, with coverage of 30% of the population, including greater Gaborone and Francistown. Other cities will follow in early 2023.

The National Communications Authority (NCA) and the Somali telecommunication companies signed an interconnection agreement, allowing customers of the various telecom operators in the country to call each other seamlessly across different networks. The agreement was signed by NCA General Manager Mustafa Yasin Sheikh and network operators’ representatives and was also consulted with the Office of Attorney General, Federal Republic of Somalia.

Intelsat, one of the world’s largest integrated satellite and terrestrial networks and a leading provider of inflight connectivity (IFC), has been chosen by MTN, a multinational telecommunications group offering cellular network access and business solutions, to further the company’s leadership while meeting the demand for broadband in remote areas of South Sudan.

They will be using the latest mobile technology to accelerate the development of digital projects in healthcare, agriculture, education and financial services, among others. This will help to improve the overall Orange customer experience, and Vanu, with its expertise, will facilitate the rollout of sites in uncovered areas of Côte d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso and Liberia.
