Safaricom M-Pesa has announced a strategic partnership with Ethiopian fintech startup LakiPay Financial Technologies to improve digital payment services in Ethiopia.
As part of the collaboration, Safaricom M-Pesa will integrate with LakiPay’s payment gateway, enabling merchants onboarded by LakiPay to accept M-Pesa payments. This move aims to provide businesses with greater access to mobile money solutions, reduce dependence on cash transactions, and improve the overall customer experience.
According to Safaricom, the partnership expands M-Pesa’s payment acceptance points across Ethiopia, promoting greater financial inclusion and digital adoption.
Elsa Muzzolini, CEO of Safaricom M-Pesa Mobile Financial Services, highlighted the significance of this partnership in advancing Ethiopia’s digital economy.
